Description

This is a 2-panel narrowband color-mapped mosaic consists of over 77 hours of integration. This area of Cygnus has really cool and distinctive textures consisting of dark nebula filaments and dust giving the feeling of linen in one area and fluffy cotton in another. It’s quite amazing how the dark nebula is so dense that the bright light of the emission nebula behind it is completely hidden.

Capturing this in one season (in the northeast US) took a miracle with clouds, poor seeing, and if I remember, forest fire smoke all stealing from available hours. I tried to balance which filters to image based on moon phase, seeing, and transparency, all while hitting the imaging time needed across both panels.
