Description

This open star cluster, known as both NGC 7234 and NGC 7235, is located 13,000 light years away in the constellation of Cepheus at a declination of +57 degrees.  It is a magnitude 7.7 cluster of about 200 stars which spans 5 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of about 20 light years.

This cluster has a nice mix of colors and star sizes.  Faint blue nebulosity appears to the lower left of the cluster but I could not find an identification for it.
