Description

Little Dumbbell Nebula (M76, NGC 650/651) - a planetary nebula in the constellation of Perseus, with its best visibility period in the autumn-winter season in my observation site. Its brightness is approximately 10.1 mag, and its apparent dimensions are 2.7x1.8 arc minutes, which translates to about 1.23 light-years in actual size. For comparison, the full Moon's diameter is 30 arc minutes.

With the Lucky Imaging technique and my telescope resolving capability, I managed to show that the central star, labeled as the white dwarf (WD 0139+513), is actually two stars with a brightness of 17.5 mag and 17.7 mag. Their angular separation is about 1.4 arcsec.
