Description

M13 The Great Hercules Globular Cluster

A combination of 70 stacked 2 min Luminance (light), 30 Stacked 2 min Red Filter, 32 stacked 2 min Green Filter, and 31 Stacked 2 min Blue Filter all at gain 90.

Total Integration: 5 hr 26 min (163 images)

This is my first attempt to stack all the LRGB data from my ASI 1600. Don't look too close, the stars could use a little more work in the future.

The cluster of stars which all developed at the same time is estimated to be 300,000 stars. The stars remain in the same globus structure due to gravity as compared the Pleiades which is an open cluster spread away from each other.

Approximately 25,1000 light years away in our own Milky Way Galaxy and 145 light years wide. The cluster rotates far above the galactic plane.

Visible magnitude of 5.8, this can be seen in ton constellation of Hercules on a clear moonless night in rural Kansas.
