Description

M78 is a diffuse reflection nebula sitting 1600 light years away in the constellation Orion (right above the belt). Being a reflection nebula m78 doesn’t contain much ionized gas but instead is illuminated by the reflection of bright star light bouncing off of cosmic dust clouds. This reveals the nebulas shape and color. I tried to shoot this object last year as an afterthought at the end of the season but at two hours I did not enough data to do it justice. Fascinated and intrigued by its shape I knew I had to try it again with my new ( and much faster ) gear. I hope to add more time to this next year if the weather permits  90x180s, gain 0, -10c
