Eastern Veil Nebula (NGC 6992). I visited the Eastern Veil a couple years ago, using my Hyperstar EAA set-up on an alt-az mount. After just 4 minutes of 20-second exposures, though, my live-stacking software went haywire, and I solved the problem by moving on to another target. I had captured just enough to know what I was missing. So when a clear July night arrived this summer, and the Eastern Veil ideally placed from my vantage point, I was eager to revisit it and give it the full astrophotography treatment. This is one short summer night's work, so it does not capture the faintest ripples of gas on the outskirts, but I'm very pleased with the crispness of the final image, and how quickly and easily the project came together.
