Update: I was able to get additional imaging time the next two evenings. The initial vignetting from 11/6 was corrected with flats (but I'm still getting 2" filters). Overall the additional integration made for a better image. I'm not sure why the histogram looks so flat here in AstroBin, in Affinity Photo it was more "normal" looking. I'm not quite sure about the color balance, I was using the histogram as reference as my monitor is not calibrated. Usually M45 images contain distant galaxy UGC 2838, near Electra. While I was inspecting this image I found what looked like a galaxy in the upper left corner, indeed I verified it as UGC 2880. Neither of these are identified in the AstroBin plate solving.

Initial comments: I got a new ZWO ASI2600MC-pro a while back. I also got a new laptop. My old laptop was Win7 and had only USB2 ports. Almost all new gear now has USB3 and Win7 has long been unsupported. I had problems getting NexRemote working. Turns out that in addition to running NR in Win7 compatibility mode, I also needed to do the initial installation in Win7 compatibility mode too. I still have some minor issues to work out on the new laptop but it was good to be back imaging. This was supposed to be an hour image run, but APT inexplicably shut down after 18/30 images. I didn't get to take flats. There are flaws in the image, the main one being that the 1.25" filters are causing vignetting in the corners. In the lower left and upper right there are odd curves of light, it is right on the edge of the vignetting so I suspect an issue with the filters, the filters are threaded mounts so it is not a reflection from a mounting screw. Looks like it's time to start a 2" filter collection.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
