Description

The Draco Triplet (NGC5982, NGC5985, NGC5981) or the NGC5982 group is a particular nice group of galaxies, showing many features and characteristics of these beautiful objects. NGC5982 is a grand design spiral seen from a high inclination angle with a lot of structure in its spiral arms. NGC5981 is edge-on with a nice dust band. NGC 5982 is a E3 galaxies which rather easily reveals many complex structures for only at first sight structureless (and at time boring looking) elliptical galaxies, such as a kinematically decoupled nucleus and a fair number of shells in the outskirts. It sure was fun to dive a bit into this group ...

data were taken on March 26,27, 28, 29, and April 2nd. at the end of last night I had to rush to pack my scope - as suddenly the weather radar showed snow on its way (but luckily, it did not materialize)
