Description

The Rosette Nebula is an H II region in the Monoceros constellation, and it is one of the most imaged objects in the night sky. This region is part of a large molecular cloud and is very active in star formation, with several young stars including some giant O-type stars. The radiation from the stars in the cluster embedded in the Rosette is responsible for exciting the atoms in the nebula, producing the light that our cameras capture. The Rosette Nebula - and the open cluster within it, NGC 2244 - is 5000 light years away from home and is about 130 light years in diameter

After the first few frames of the Jellyfish came in, I pointed my new Stellarvue SVX140T to one of the most imaged objects in the sky, the Rosette Nebula. This was just a "test", this object obviously requires more time but I am pleasantly surprised how it came out for such short integration time.
