Description

Sh2-173 HSO was used for annotation (panel C). Panel B is cropped version. O3 showed almost nothing.
Main image has combined HSO SNR of 250.

Processing:
RGB are combined.
Cropping for Ha, O3, S2 and RGB
DBE for O3 and RGB. This step is critical to avoid subtracting nebulosity. Hence, this step was not applied for Ha and S2.
Color Colib for RGB
Blur and Noise XT for Ha, O3, S2 and RGB
Star XT for RGB and SHO. SHO stars were discarded. RGB stars were kept.

Manual stretching (with HT) for Ha, O3, S2, RGB (all of them no stars), and RGB-stars (low intensity stretching).
Stretched RGB-stars were saved for HSO images.

Combined HSO as R-G-B
Noise XT
Stretched again.
Played with Hue-Saturation until final image.
Lum for HSO was used as mask.
Local Histogram Equalization: Kernel radius of 40, 150 and then 300 (histogram resolution is 10-bit!)
Multiscale-median transform for sharpness; strong 0.4 setting.
Curves: saturation and brightness are manipulated
Mask off.
Added RGB stars.
Annotation for panel C
Cropping for panel B
Main image is on panel A (no annotation and no cropping)
