Description

The Bode's Galaxy - M81: Approximately 11,5 Million light years away in the constellation of Ursa Major, it is one of the brightest galaxies in the night sky for observations. Its spiral arms accommodate young and hot blue stars whereas in its centre a supermassive black hole lies with a mass about 70 Million times the mass of the Sun.

The Cigar Galaxy - M82: Approximately 12 Million light years away also in the constellation of Ursa Major. It is known for the emission of red light which represents starburst activity where the birth of stars near the centre of the galaxy takes place 10 times faster than our entire milky way galaxy. This is a result of the gravitational interactions with the Bode's galaxy.
