Description

The Rosette nebula wide field
Another re-visit, this time using the smaller, wide field quintuplet APO refractor, Askar FRA400 F3,9.
Photons collected over three nights in February 2023
The nebula is located in the constellation Monoceros, The Unicorn, close to the more famous constellation Orion, The Hunter and lies in a distance of 5000 lightyears from us.
The nebula measures about 130 lightyears across and also holds a star cluster as a tenant, the NGC 2244.
In 2010 The Herschel Space Observatory revealed the dust clouds of The Rosette nebula as an area of star birth, a stellar nursery.
A celestial hot mom?
