Description

Pleiades (catalog name: Messier 45), is an open cluster located in the constellation of Taurus, at a distance of 444 light-years from Earth. Due to this "small" distance that separates us and the fact that the Pleiades are visible to the naked eye, this Messier object is known by several names, such as The 7 Sisters, Subaru or Pleione's daughters, and probably another 50 names. If anyone knows other names, please mention it in the "Comments" section.

M45 consists of over 1000 stars, mostly young stars, hence the blue color that is reflected from the dust cloud that surrounds this swarm of stars. Due to this "gas" the Pleiades are sometimes seen as a reflection nebula, but from an astronomical point of view M45 is classified as a cluster star.
