Description

M51 is a "grand-design" spiral galaxy. Its winding spiral arms are factories for forming new stars within these lanes of gas and dust. A close encounter with the smaller galaxy seen to the right has transformed this galaxy into one of the most amazing objects to see in the night sky. Discovered by Charles Messier in 1773, M51 is located 31 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Canes Venatici.

Shot over 3 nights 03/07 & 03/16 & 04/07/2021.
