Description

The Spiral Flame is in the southern constellation of Vela and is part of the Vela Supernova Remnant, a favourite area of mine to image. Located about 800 light-years away the main features are the swirling lengths of oxygen strands beside the large expanse of hydrogen that provides the red flame.
