Description

Using the Astronomik 12nm Clip set and my T3i, this is a total of 12 hours Hα (which also carries luminance)+ 6 hours OII + 4.2 hours SII data. That's a total of 22 hours of exposure time.

I decided to map this as SHO, (Sulpher II, Hydrogen α, Oxygen III). I think this is called "Hubble Palette", but correct me if I am wrong. The exact percentages I used per channel are:

R = 0.3 Hα + 0.7 SII

G = 0.2 OIII + 0.6 Hα + 0.2 SII

B = OIII

I have never done this kind of color mapping before. At best I have augmented true color images with NB, which is my preference. That said, I am happy with how it turned out given the fact that I am not using a cooled camera, which I have stubbornly held off from buying.
