NGC 2903
in the constellation Leo
The galaxy is located at the head of Leo and is one of the brightest Glx of the northern hemisphere.
It is about 24.MLj away and belongs to the direct neighborhood of the Local Group.
It has a diameter of about 88,000 Lj.
The interior is dominated by large amounts of dust and many active HII regions.
To the right of NGC 2903 is its companion galaxy UGC 5086.
NGC 2903 was the "first light object" for my
Planewave CDK 14.
It was difficult to process in image processing because of image technical problems.
I almost gave up on it, which would have been a shame since it was my First Light object.
But giving up was not an option.

NGC 2903
im Sternbild Löwe
Die Galaxie befindet sich am Kopf des Löwen und ist einer der hellsten Glx der nördl. Hemisphäre.
Sie ist ca. 24.MLj entfernt und zählt zur direkter Nachbarschaft der Lokalen Gruppe.
Sie besitzt einen Durchmesser von ca. 88.000 Lj.
Der Innenbereich wird von großen Mengen Staub und vielen aktiven HII - Regionen beherrscht.
Rechts von NGC 2903 steht ihre Begleitergalaxie UGC 5086
NGC 2903 war das "First Light Objekt" für meinen
Planewave CDK 14.
Sie war schwer in der Bildbearbeitung zu bearbeiten, weil es bildtechnische Problem gab.
Fast hätte ich es aufgeben, was schade wäre da es mein First Light Objekt war.
Aber aufgeben galt nicht.
