Description

This image captures several DSOs located in the constellation of Taurus at a declination of +30 degrees.

The blue reflection nebula on the left is vdB 29.  The illuminating blue star is HD 30378, a magnitude 7.4 star which is 500 light years away. The clouds to the lower right of this star provide interesting dimension to the nebula.   A second smaller blue reflection nebula is seen below and left of vdB 29.  My collection of vdB nebulae is shown here.

To the right of vdB 29, just right of image center, is a trio of small dark nebulae which comprise Barnard 24.  Further to the right, near the right edge of the image, is the single dark nebula Barnard 23.  As is usually the case, no distance information is available for these dark nebulae.  My collection of Barnard dark nebulae is shown here.
