Description

This is IC 1396 otherwise known as the Elephant Trunk. It looks more like an Elephant Trunk in a wider field. This image was taken on an Esprit 150 with 1050 mm focal length. Consequently, I basically have all nebula in the image. This created problems with color calibration (I could not get a good sample of background) in Pixinsight but that turned out to not be necessary due to a very good background extraction in DBE and the very dark skies at Pixelskies. Many thatnks to Ron Brecher of Masters of Pixinsight for the help he gave me on how to process this image. His turoring was extremely helpful and now I feel that I  am finally getting a handle on Pixinsight. I still have a lot to learn but it is good exercise for my old brain.
