Description

This highly inclined galaxy is probably a spiral and is classified as SB(s)c pec in the De Vaucouleurs classification (spiral without bar of peculiar class).
It hhas a bright, elongated major axis embedded in a broad, fainter outer envelope. Many knotty condensations are visible in the inner enveloppe. The outer enveloppe is also very grainy, but it is hardly visible on this picture.
Angular diameter: 6.3'x2.7'.
Radial velocity: 253 km/s.
Distance: 11.3 million light years.
Diameter: 21000 ly.
