Description

Bode's Nebula is a spiral galaxy with about 50 billion solar masses and a distance of 11 million lightyears.
Its companion galaxy Holmberg IX is the youngest galaxy in our vicinity with about 20% of its stars having been born in the last 200 million years.

It was imaged around my birthday during three clear nights in January 2024 after months of not seeing the stars at all. What a gift

To combine Ha and RGB data, I tried a new approach:
1. strack L-Pro and L-Extreme data separately
2. perform a continuum subtraction on the Ha data to get the pure Ha signal
3. add Ha data to the unstretched RGB-data with HaRGB combine in PixInsight
4. start my normal processing approach

Was the first time I combined it this way and I like the way it turned out.
