Description

The Bubble Nebula is an H II region emission nebula located in the constellation Cassiopeia about 7,100 light-years from Earth bearing about 7 light-years in diameter. The gas from the star (SAO 20575 45 times more massive than the Sun) is so hot that is escaped away into space as a stellar wind and forms the bubble around the star. The star’s radiation ionizes the bubble-shaped shell, causing the nebula to glow. The Bubble Nebula has an apparent magnitude of 10 and was discovered in 1787 by William Herschel.
