NGC 6820 and NGC 6823 (SH2-86) from the city of Sofia

This is an area of the sky that I imaged on the 5th and 6th of August 2021. I was drawn by NGC 6823 and the nearby dust pillars. However after processing the whole region turned out to be quite interesting. There are several dark nebulae passing nearby with fabulous cloud formations. SH2-87 is included as well - can be seen on the full frame. I even captured a mystery object - revision "G". I tried to identify it through platesolving but did not succeed. Maybe it is an ancient, unidentified planetary nebula? Maybe it is designated Sektor1?

Just kidding...

Here is some interesting data for NGC6820/6823 that I managed to find:
- visual magnitude - +15.00;
- apparent size - 40x30 arcmin;
- the open star cluster NGC 6823 is about 50 light years in diameter and lies about 6 thousand light years from us;
- M27 - the Dumbbell is situated nearby;

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status.
