Description

This false color image (Hubble Palette) with an exposure time of 7 hours shows the Pacman Nebula in the constellation of Cassiopeia in a distance of about 9500 light years.
The Pacman Nebula is an emission nebula, that mainly consists of ionized hydrogen (orange) and ionized oxygen (blue).
Right in the centre of the Pacman Nebula you can find a „Bok Globule“ in which molecular clouds get compressed under high pressure, atomic fusion takes place and new stars are born.
