Description

At 13,000 light-years away, the stars of the globular cluster NGC6752 have been shining for more than 10 billion years. They are twice as old as the Sun. However, several of these stars have many characteristics of young stars, starting with their color: they are blue.

These "blue stragglers" are not so rare in globular clusters. Except in a cluster like this, all stars are born together!!!

What seems most likely as an explanation is that they would be the result of star collisions. In clusters where stellar populations are dense, this type of collision is far from impossible! About 1/3 of the stars in NGC 6752 also form binary systems.
