Description

I had a second chance to image the comet Pons-Brooks and decided to try a bit more focal length with my 400mm Canon lens, instead of 135mm lens I used last time. However I was very rushed to setup quickly since I arrived home with barely enough time to get ready prior to astronomical twilight end. I did not have time to setup guiding, which might have helped at this focal length. It slipped my mind to take darks also, and my first attempt at processing had a lot of walking noise. I took darks the next night but temperatures were warmer. At the coldest part of the night I got darks that were about 5c warmer. After reprocessing with darks, walking noise was reduced but still an issue. Also Starnet had some weird results using it on a per sub basis... about 1/3 of the subs looked ok, 1/3 of the subs Starnet removed the comet nucleus, and another 1/3 it half-removed the nucleus. So per sub star removal had to be abandoned and I did a regular comet-aligned stack with stars.
