Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a planetary nebula located 3600 light years away in the constellation of Monoceros at a declination of -10 degrees.  It is a magnitude 15.4 PN that spans 1.4 arc-minutes in our apparent view, which corresponds to a width of 1.5 light years.

This object is the 5th in a series of PN identified in a publication by Hartl, Dengel, and Weinberger in 1983.  Surprisingly little has been written on this interesting object.  It looks like a multipolar PN similar in structure to G100.4+04.6 and KjPn 8, and similar in HII composition to the latter.  Note the wide HII stream heading up from the center.

The progenitor star does not appear to be visible.
