Description

The Large Magellanic Cloud is a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way, about 160,000 light years distant making it the second or third closest galaxy in the Local Group.  Visible stars indicate a mass of about 10 billion solar masses, or about 10% the mass of the Milky Way.

This image was captured using an unmodified Canon EOS 6D and Canon EF200mm f/2.8 L ii USM lens stopped down half a stop to f/3.2.

Sequator was use for image calibration and stacking, and Adobe Camera Raw for final image tweaks.
