Description

My second solo attempt at imaging Jupiter and I'm still learning important lessons.  I woke up late and by the time I got the scope polar aligned and pointed at Jupiter, the eastern horizon was already starting to glow.  Wanting to beat dawn, I decided to skip a couple of important steps...dialing in the collimation and fine tuning the ADC. As a result, I sacrificed some image quality in the final images. Next time, I'll slow down and take the extra time to collimate and adjust the ADC so the final images are the best they can possibly be.  I managed to get two images completed...the first was "widefield" so I could capture Europa (left) and Ganymede (right) framing Jupiter.  The second was an ROI on just Jupiter (Revision A)

Revision C shows my computer simultaneously analyzing 32 SER files for an impact on Jupiter using DeTeCt software.  My son has been using the program since 2019...and just a few days after he started using the software, he detected a very rare impact on Jupiter!  For more information about Project DeTeCt, check out their website and download the free software to start analyzing your data for an impact.
