Description

This object is a planetary nebula located 10,000 light years away in the constellation of Cassiopeia at a declination of +63 degrees. This PN spans 15 arc-seconds in our apparent view, which corresponds to a diameter of 0.75 light years.

There is something striking about PN which are almost as small in size to us as stars, yet retain such color and structure that they are clearly not stars.

I really like the unusual structure of this object. The central star is clearly visible, surrounded by a bright ring which is “broken” at several places. This PN is further away than most I have seen, which is too bad. It would be nice to see more detail on this one.

Some have nicknamed this object the Holepunch Nebula, which I guess makes sense. But it seems such a shame that a beautiful object like this needs such a mundane nickname.
