Description

I've been very lucky that I had the clear skies to follow this amazing Comet and watch it transform over the past week. In the early hours of this morning, this is how it presented itself, it also so happened to 'pass' (from our PoV) NGC5907 which is a spiral galaxy located approximately 50 million light years from earth. So it obviously didn't pass by the galaxy

The dust at the front of the comet is what is called the Anti-Tail. From my understanding, particle and dust that come off the comet stay within it's orbit, solar winds then cause this dust to travel in front of the comet and this seems to be the reason why it presents itself this way and constantly changes. The Anti-Tail is also obscuring the main tail, hence why it looks slightly bloated.

This is 2 hours from 3:30-4:30am UK time on January 23rd 2023, and I have taken 2 minute exposures

Processed in PixInsight and Photoshop by me
