Description

In a break from imaging, as we waited for the sun to rise after imaging Comet , I took the opportunity to capture the moon as it continued to move over our heads into a more optimal imaging location than where it was scenic and beautiful lower to the horizon. It paid off because my multi-coated and sharp Vixen 70ss ed doublet picked up sharp craters and focus. For those watching, I plugged in my ASI 462mc planetary camera, mounted on a basic Sky Watcher Star Adventurer, with frames taken in Sharpcap, and that's all I needed. Later today, I was thrilled when I saw the crispness and clarity revealing unique craters along the terminus line, where the shadow of the moon is. We saw crispness when we could see the moon on my tablet screen, but not close to the clarity planetary imaging techniques provide when about half of the acquisition was above 80% quality, all on my first tiny star tracker!
