Description

Abell 31, according to another cataloging Sh2-290, is a planetary nebula in the constellation of Cancer.
Abell 31 is one of what appears to be the largest planetary nebulae. Due to its angular extent, it now has a low surface brightness of 26.9 Mag/arc-sec². The southern part of the nebula is still surrounded by an arcuate shock zone, while the boundaries of the northern part are very blurred. The latter and the large extent indicate the old age of the planetary nebula, as it is already beginning to mix and dissolve with interstellar matter. (Wikipedia 2023)

The object really isn't bright. You can't see anything on the RGB frames and it's hard to see the PN on the narrowband frames too . Sure, I took pictures when the full moon was approaching,... :-)
