Description

From the Mollie Brown Observatory 02/02/21 . . . the Rosette Nebula (C49, NGC 2237). This is a beautiful and very large star forming region in the constellation Unicorn, which is just to the left of Orion. According to internet data, it is 5,200 light years away and 130 light years wide. This is a shot of the north central area of the nebula containing globs of dust and gases which are illuminated by the very hot stars in the central region. I hope to image other interesting areas of it in the same way then put them all together. The nebula is so big, it actually takes up the space of about 9 full moons in the sky.
