Now I am on the Submitters Team, I am taking a lot more notice of the images submitted each day, and some of the Top Picks are really excellent but not quite making it to IOTD.|
Just wondering whether a Top Picked image could be marked as a Top Pick so it shows on the individual's gallery as some form of recognition rather than it just being on the Top Picks Gallery which will eventually disappear as time goes by.

|Good idea! Maybe a little "TP" icon?|
# 02 Jan, 2018 17:26
Yes, that's what I was thinking.|
# 02 Jan, 2018 18:38
|Do You think that all the top quality images make it to the top pic section? I am shure they don't. Labeling an image as top pic means that others are not top quality images, and this would mislead people. Choosing an IOTD is subjective, and it is OK, but quality is not a question of taste so choosing a top pic shouldn't be like this. I think it is already a problem. Just saying :-)|

I don't agree that if an image is not a top pick it is being labelled as not a top quality image.|
Images are already segregated by being on Top Picks, and for many people getting just that far is an achievement but one that will disappear and be forgotten as time passes.
See what others think.

I think that's an excellent idea, Carole.|
# 02 Jan, 2018 22:43
|But that is a fact that far less the image appears in the top pic than the top quality. It could be a good ide if top pic selection wasn't so subjective.|
# 02 Jan, 2018 23:38
|Keep in mind that these are top picks not top pics. Yes, they're subjective, but no it does not imply that other images aren't good. That might be the case if they were top pics, but they're not. This is about giving some lasting recognition to images and photographers whose work stood out from the pack. I think that's a good thing.|

|What are the criteria which determine whether an image appears in Top Picks?|
# 03 Jan, 2018 04:39
|I like Carole's idea, and her reasoning. Top picks are already in a special category, and making knowledge of being selected as a top pick more permanent is justifiable. All evaluations are subjective so that is not an issue. The judges for the IOTD are from the community, and the use of the many tiers of judges was discussed for years before it was implemented. Having so many judges, and having the judges change from time to time means whatever they do pick is representative of the tastes of the community.|

My bad, sorry, you are right.
# 03 Jan, 2018 06:30
|My argue is still the same that too few images got to the top picks section.|

Rick StevensonApparently it has to be picked by any of 28 submitters who think the image is worth consideration for IOTD and then reviewed by 15 reviewers and therefore got onto the Judges final list. I would imagine from a comment Salvatore made, that several submitters picking the same image must influence the Reviewers/Judges to some extent.
I think this is worthy of permanent recognition myself. They are like "Runners up" to the IOTD.
Submitters can only choose up to 3 images per day, I am not sure what the criteria is for the Reviewers.

Carole PopeThanks, Carole. Reviewers can only choose 3 images per day as well.Rick StevensonApparently it has to be picked by any of 28 submitters who think the image is worth consideration for IOTD and then reviewed by 15 reviewers and therefore got onto the Judges final list. I like your idea of permanently recognizing good images but was a little uneasy, like Peter, about how representative Top Picks was of the overall population of good images. Sounds like we have a fairly robust process though, so I'm less concerned now.

If I remember right, the images selected by reviewers for the IOTD are in the top pics list.|
So at least two people must vote for a pic, to become a top pic. (Submitter and Reviewer)

|There is already a "Top 100" marking (but I am not sure if it is based on views or likes). A "Top pick" mark is a nice idea too, at least as a bookkeeping aid. If I remember well, AB users only get a notification when an image of theirs is top-picked.|
# 05 Jan, 2018 07:56
Top100 is based purely on Likes.|
I can try adding a badge for Top Picks, and see if it's not a performance problem.
Die Launische Diva
Hmm no, there's no notification for that actually.

I think that this is a great idea Carole, thanks for supporting this Salvatore. Images are chosen for Top Picks and IOTD and I always thought is was a bit odd that badges were only there for IOTD. I like the idea of having more and different badges. And now I know where Top100 comes from |
# 06 Jan, 2018 17:42
|I added a badge for the Top Picks.|
# 06 Jan, 2018 20:09
Thank you Salvatore, it will be some compensation for those who almost made it to IOTD and at least some recognition for having got that far.|
# 06 Jan, 2018 21:54
Good idea Salvatore. I like it.|
# 07 Jan, 2018 06:25
|It was Carole’s idea 😁|
