Not sure if its just me.. But after getting the plate solve info back on older images yesterday, i have just started an imaging session and used the following link in SGP to ensure i was all centered|
Image shows here with the plate solving info, but when put into the target in SGP it failed to recognize the link
I get the same result with other links as well. Tried it on two different laptops, so im pretty sure its not SGP.

|For one thing I should fix the fact that when you click an image in the search page the request parameters get carried over and you get such a long URL, but SGP should deal with that just fine. I would get in touch with the SGP people!|
# 08 Nov, 2017 07:24
Okay I have fixed the issue with the unnecessary query attributed that were specific to the search. So if you now make a search and click on an image, you only get the navigation context as an attribute.|
Regarding SGP, please try with only the image number in the URL, like astrobin.com/123456789.
Anyway please contact SGP because that looks like an issue.

I already rasied this over on SGP forum, but other than other users like Aidan confirming the same problem, there has been no comment from the developers yet.
Just a thought, but I notice that Astrobin reports the solved image in degrees xxx.xxx for both RA and Dec whereas SGP is looking for RA in Hrs:Mins:Secs. Has Astrobin always recorded solves the same way or did this change with the upgrade. I ask because when I copy/paste the Astrobin solved coordinates values into SGP as a work around, it returns wrong vales for the RA coordinates, whereas Dec is fine.
I'm new to SGP so have only used it a few times and the linked url within SGP was working the previous time out on 22 October, so this was my first try after the big Astrobin upgrade, hence thinking that something changed in the way solve data is stored or reported.

|I don't think that the format changed because of the update, even tho I cannot rule it out 100%. In any case, I think that SGP should handle the format conversion.|

|Thanks Sal, I will wait to see what the SGP folks have to say. Regards, Geof|

Hi. I have tested today, and i have loaded an image from DSO Browser to Sequence Generator 188.8.131.52, and work ok. From Astrobin image don't work, give an error.|
# 08 Nov, 2017 19:10
|It would be great if somebody from SGP could chime in and give me a technical reason, so I can tell if something changed on AstroBin's site.|
# 10 Nov, 2017 10:20
I'm not familiar with DSO Browser, but did try to upload an image url to SGP from there, but it also failed, so how do I know if the DSO Browser image I used has been plate solved?
# 10 Nov, 2017 10:46
Hi. Today i have tested old version Sequence Generator 184.108.40.206, with image link from Astrobin, and the same error.|
With this version last month worked ok, but after Astrobin upgrade don't work.
# 10 Nov, 2017 10:50
|I have just sent an email to Ken from SGP and hopefully he jumps on it so we can fix it together!|
# 10 Nov, 2017 10:54
Geof LewisHi Geof.
First step open am image in DSO-Browser like in image below.
Step 2 copy the linnk.
Step 3 load link in SGPro Target.
Step 4 you have RA-DEC coordonate to slew to target M 31 like in example.
Clear sky IOSIF.

Iosif BodnariuGeof LewisHi Geof.
# 12 Nov, 2017 10:13
Is then any progress on this please? Ken from SGP initially reported that between you both the problem had been resolved, but then later reported it was still not fixed, so I'm wondering where we are, e.g. is it with you, Ken or both?
# 12 Nov, 2017 16:33
|I've been in touch with Ken. First there was an issue on AstroBin's side, now fixed. Everything looks fine on this side, but SGP is still not working. Ken is investigating.|
# 12 Nov, 2017 16:39
Thanks for the update. Technology is fun isn't it.
It sounds just like the comms issues I have between my observatory warm room and pier - I have to creep up on them as it seems that if they see me coming then one or both of them doesn't want to play….!!
I'm sure that it will all work out in the end.
# 14 Nov, 2017 12:03
Good Morning All,|
Do we have any updates with this problem please?
# 14 Nov, 2017 15:54
AidanNo, we are waiting to be solved this problem.
# 17 Nov, 2017 16:10
Posted over on SGP from on of the devs:|
a bit of bad news. After some discussion with Astrobin, it seems like it might be too difficult to make Astrobin interface with SGPro like it
used to. Because of this, all previous builds of SGPro will never again
be able to communicate with AstroBin. Going forward, all new versions
of SGPro will be restored to the expected functionality.
Disappointing i'm afraid. I have no idea how much work would have been involved. I guess we'll have to wait for SGP 3.xxxx to come out to see this feature working again.
Thanks to the devs for looking into this
# 18 Nov, 2017 10:39
|So a feature that used to work perfectly, including on the current version 2.6.24 all of a sudden is too difficult to make it continue to work? Something doesn't sound right there. What changed?|
# 18 Nov, 2017 13:17
The issue is twofold:|
1. AstroBin now redirects all calls to the secure server, and SGP does not interpret the redirect correctly
2. AstroBin upgraded the REST API framework, and that resulted in a slightly different JSON response format, that SGP cannot interpret unless t gets patched.
SGP was using basically an unadvertised beta API (and was the only one using that particular API as far as I know) and I’m not comfortable reverting the REST API framework to the older, obsolete version, just for one use case.
It would be more proper for SGP to patch an update to support the secure server and new API.
# 18 Nov, 2017 15:21
THe most recent post on SGP states it will be fixed for the 3.xxxx version It will also be addressed at some point with the current 2.xxxx as well.|
Who konws what the time lines are going to be. But main thing is its now understood what the problem is and it can be fixed.
# 18 Nov, 2017 19:11
Salvatore IoveneHi Sal, thanks for the information and I support your decision to stay with secure server and new API. Ken at SGP has said that future releases will include the target url fix to the latest Astrobin, so I will wait for that and manually input coordiantes for the time being. Regards, Geof
