What is this and why can't I like a photo. It says I need a index of 1 or more. If someone could let me know that would be a big help…. Eric4

the page that tells you that you need an index of 1 or more also tells you why:

Such limitation improves the website as a whole by discouraging people from creating fake accounts to like their own images. Thank you for understanding!

The FAQ on this site explain what the index is and how it's calculated:

How is the AstroBin index calculated?

The AstroBin index is a function of the number of Likes and the number of images posted by a user.

I received some Likes, why is my AstroBin index not updated?

Because it's computationally expensive, the AstroBin index is updated only every 24 hours. The same applies for the search index, the Big Wall, and some other user data.

And if you want to know even more, remember that AstroBin is open source, so you can look at the code:

Not even close to answering the question.  It says the number of likes increases your index scodre, but you can't like anything until your index is higher.

It’s the number of likes you receive on your own images that increases your score.
