Hi all , I was looking for a way to get pure Ha and color stars , so I came up with this after some time , it might be something stupid, but I like the result I shot LRGB and Ha with a mono camera . I processed Ha as normal streched, removed stars and converted to RGB . to that I added color stars I had removed from a RGB version and applied L . I tweaked the image in curves then removed stars and reduced them . here is what I got , What do you think , is it any good , is it rubbish, perhaps its a common way of processing , I don't know but i never saw it before cheers and clear sky !! https://astrob.in/94xown/0/ |

I really like the result, but don't follow the process. Can you elaborate more on your on how you converted the monocrhome Ha frame to RGB? |

Hi , sorry , here I go : 1 Ha mono image , process as normal , remove stars . and convert to RGB, you get an B&W image of Ha 2 add to the B6W RGB Ha the color stars from a normal RGB composition , you get your B6W image with color stars and tainted colour Ha 3 saturate with curves and tweak as you like 4 add Luminance to your image ( I has shot L R G Boo the same image ) 5 remove stars , tweak and add stars again hope that's easier to understand cheers James |

James: Coincidently, I was trying the same thing yesterday with a boring RGB image of a Sharpless nebula which looks much more interesting as just a monochrome Ha image. I didn't go very far with it, but maybe I should try again to get the RGB stars combined with it. |
