Hi there,

I know most people have cases for their glass, but what about mounts? Do you just lay it down in your car partly disassembled?

I have the HEQ5 and want to take good care of it—but anticipate some camping trips with it in the back.

Thanks!

I have mine is a Pelican Case like most of my equipment. A part of it is piece of mind is that I know it’ll survive a car accident better than I will haha

A part is also for storage, it’s stackable!

I just lay it down in my car disassembled.  The only important thing about transporting mounts is to make sure the clutches are NOT engaged, so the axes can move freely and not have undue force placed on them.

Good advice—thank you.

I am too cheap for pelican cases for everything, so I just save the packing foam the mount came with and put that in a big plastic bin from a hardware store. If you threw out the packing material, you can get high-density foam from a craft store. Like Ara, I disengage the clutches for transport.
