Hello, I have just acquired my first ever white light solar filter, an Orion full aperture glass filter (109-116mm). I am wondering if I put this solar filter in front of the objective lens (ED80 telescope), is it possible or a good idea to put a Ha deep-sky filter in front of the camera, to record the sun in Ha? Will this damage the Ha filter? Thanks for your help, Izaak |

It will not damage the filter but you cannot image the Sun in H-alpha with a deep-sky H-alpha filter. Solar H-alpha filters are something entirely different. Read https://astronomyconnect.com/forums/articles/5-a-guide-to-hydrogen-alpha-solar-filters-and-telescopes.30/ Best regards, Geert |
