Hi SA2i users,

I noticed that when I try manual RA control from my phone, using the wi-fi, the latency is suuuper low

Like I click an arrow and it either takes a couple of seconds for the mount to respond, or it does not respond at all.

Its kind of a 50/50

Is it a common thing for Star Adventurers? Or is it just me? Could it be cause batteries are low?

Hi,

I have to admit, that I am not a user of the star adventurer. But from my experience, those kind of problems are related to the wifi connection. Somehow, the data packets could not be delivered the right way. I doubt this is a harware issue. Also, this does not neccessarily have to be a problem of the SA. It could also be the phone, the overall traffic on the wifi channel used, ... Can you try it with another device? Does this work?

From time to time, those issues appear an some devices I use, too. Usually, disabeling and reenabeling the wifi solves them. I don't exactly know the reason, but I bet your problem is similar. Of course, I could be wrong. But maybe it's a starting point for trouble shooting.

Make sure, your batteries still have enough power. This could cause those issues as well.

I tend to use the mount control in EKOS (Stellarmate), when fine tuning position in RA (still trying to figure out how to develop DEC guiding / positioning, but that is another story). I do this via WiFi but positioned beside the mount. Sometimes it slews unexpectedly if tracking disengages when using manual mount buttons, but usually responsive within 0.25 sec.

Is there any way to control the mount via ST4 cable from NINA?

I expect so - I use EQmount for direct control via USB mini cable, and can confirm that PHD2 via ST4 works, but limited to RA only of course. I’ve managed 600s guided images with 5kg max load (if carefully balanced).
