Hi all,

As a prelude to our project this year please see my latest GIF animation. It is Jupiter's GRS and complex wake as it evolved over 12 days.....I was lucky to have good seeing and the same aspect 12 days apart,

Clearly we want to produce something with an image for each day in between.

Clear skies,

Niall

Very nice animation, Niall! Very dynamic features this season. Like a rock, battered by the waves.

Hi, all
yeah, It is very dynamic this movement of GRS, I read an article saying that the RGS can disappear in 10 years, I do not know if the source was reliable, however, let's enjoy!

Hi all,
Thanks for your feedback on that. Yes two images just 12 days apart and a lot of activity in the atmosphere. I know the Equatorial Belt moves much faster than the rest of the belts, so I am not sure whether the animation shows how much movement really occurred over this time frame. Certainly the slower relative movement of the two white ovals in the S.S. Temperature Belt is clear, as are the movements of other smaller features. By the way, it was sheer good luck that the GRS lined up perfectly between the two captures such that I didn't have to do any realignment. This of course also avoided the planet being displaced between the two images which makes for a nicer appearance in the animation.
Thanks for the link Almir.
Clear skies and good seeing, Niall
