Looking at the maps, it would appear that AtlasSkies was in an area affected by the earthquake.   Hoping everything/everyone is OK.

Power went off, last image from the webcam, and last weather station update at 23:00.

I talked with one of the guys there, he reported no major damage at the observatory, and the team is safe. Polar alignment and collimation might suffer at the piers though, it was a mag 7 earthquake with an epicenter 30-40km from the site.

Lots of human damage in the whole area however; a lot of small rural towns are crudely built and the roads rough. Fairly remote areas so the news will take a while to come to us.

A sad day all in all. I'm worried about the architectural heritage of sites like Aït Ben Haddou a few kilometers from there too, those are litteral mud and sand castles.

Thank you for the update Laurent.   Your story reminded me of watching cameras go dark at SRO as flames from the forest fires  were seen in the distance.  All was good there, but the surrounding community was devastated.

I hope of the AtlasSkies employees and service providers are OK.

I never experienced an earthquake while housing my equipment in CA.  Always curious how much impact that wound have on polar alignment since we are able to measure the difference to precisely.

Shakes at this distance from a mag 7 are enough to make anything (consider the piers are directly anchored to the mountain's rock) move by a few centimeters back and forth, several times per second. I let you imagine what goes on with the instrument's precious tuning on top, with the mass inertia.
