Hey everyone! So last year I had the amazing opportunity to purchase a setup and send it to the Obstech observatory down in Chile. Teaming up with @Deep Sky West (Lloyd) and @Tolga (all credit goes to these two, as everyone knows they are extremely talented) the setup has been producing some awesome data. I’m doing a processing competition with data from the scope and offering a 4 month subscription to the setup. The raw data is of the Pencil Nebula, around 30 hours worth, Ha/O/LRGB. From these submissions myself and a panel of judges will pick the top 10, who then get to edit a more difficult data set (hint: it’s a dusty galaxy) in LRGB. Submission deadline is Mar 31. Please email image to [email protected], and any questions you may have about it. The master frames are found at https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/1K4AtOxhrJPcL58rZ6JKilr23tOt9896d?usp=sharing You can download them in either 32 bit .xisf or .tiff whichever you prefer. Best part of it all is to see the amazing talent here and what people can do with data! Feel free to make your image as unique as you want or to go in any direction you want with it. When it comes to the galaxy data (which I’ll put in the drive folder soon), everyone will also get the chance to play around with it. |

gturgeon, I am sure you are very sincere in your offer here and mean well, and I can see the fun we can all have processing some wonderful master frames acquired with equipment most of here on Astrobin can only dream of ever using. In that regard, might I suggest one rule for this fine competition... " contest is open to Astrobin members who have never been nominated for or won an Astrobin award for processing an image taken from a an Amateur Hosting facility or an Own Remote Observatory" ...Simply because dark site folks have have probably been awarded and rewarded previously. scott |

| @Lancelot365 Thanks for your submission. Great job!! @wsg that’s a good point, thank you for the feedback. I already opened the competition up on social media as well, and I didn’t limit anyone from competing on there (except for the judges on the panel), so I can’t really limit it here. I’ve seen some amazing processing by people on social media that I don’t believe have ever won on astrobin, Andre the best of my knowledge have little experience editing data like that before. |

I am suffering from heavy cloud coverage since months - apart from some cloud gaps in between, so this comes at the right time :-) I did my best with the amazing data provided by you, @gturgeon , but i am more the OSC-guy and that was complicated for me.
