Hello world, Danette here from the super-bright San Fernando Valley area of LA. My favorite comment this morning was someone who said, "Dollars won't accelerate your learning...." so very true.

How many times has this been said: I wish I'd known about Astrobin's forum BEFORE I invested in this adventure? Like so so many, I started down my backyard astronomy path when Neowise came around and covid lockdowns hit. It's been a slippery slope ever since - actually, I feel more like Sisyphus , but remain super determined and love it.  Based on what I've read so far, I bought the wrong beginner scope (SCT 9.25), the wrong camera (QHY color that's far too low res), etc. However, it challenged me to keep learning and since that first purchase, I went back and bought what I should have for learning (AT72edii, dslr) - so I'm ahead of the game for when I know what I'm doing (how many lightyears will that take?). I've got a few good shots of the moon - thank god that's easy to find - and my latest success was actually capturing the Andromeda Galaxy, although I overexposed so have to reshoot totally.

Cheers - thanks for all the wisdom and aspirational, motivating work!

A very warm welcome from me! Money can even slow down your learning... Looking forward to seeing your images on AstroBin!
