Description

Arp's image shows just a hint of something between NGC2872 and the south end of NGC2874.  My capture seems to bring this out as well with just the slightest hint of material just off the end of the southern arm.  Otherwise, NGC2872 shows a large, bright and oval core with a slightly fainter halo around.  NGC2874 shows some good details in the northern arm which is more defined than the southern.  The core of the spiral is not in the center of the galaxy image and it looks elongated, but not in the same direction as the arms.  Nearby NGC2873 is much smaller and fainter than the other two galaxies.  It shows a small and fairly bright oval core with fainter extensions.  Aspect of the little galaxy is about 3:1.
