Description

This massive globular cluster, located in the southern hemisphere, is probably the most beautiful and perfect clusters in the sky. It is easily seen by the unaided eye and shows its splendor in almost any size scope or binocular.
This image was captured in 2011 at Daniel Verschatse's Hacienda de Los Andes in the Rio Hurtado valley, in the shadow of Cerro Panchon observatory complex. Being at the southern edge of the Atacama desert, this location has wonderful transparent skies and very steady air.
