Description

I took this panorama during the summer, my idea was to show all the beautiful objects in Cygnus constellation. I even discovered a few I didn't know and I hope to spend a bit of time imaging them more close up.

The panorama itself is made out of 16 panels with 20% overlap. As a first lesson learned I think 10-15%ish would have been good enough. I tried to target 25 lights per panel at first, but the aquisition method I used at first was wrong I think as I tried to make panels one after the other. Then I've read advice that it is best to capture a bit of each panel every night to blend gradients. At the end I have between 20 x 300s lights on some panels up to 35-40 for others.

I assembled the panorama in astro pixel processor; firstly I tried to integrate all lights in a panorama at once. When I saw the processing time and my computer nearly colapsed, I cancelled and took another approach. I first integrated each panel separetly in APP, then removed light pollution on each, finally I integrate them with no noticeable radiant in between panels on the end results which I was quite happy about.

Then the next lesson: processing such a panorama image is quite different from a single image. For exemple I'm still not sure how to set the pixel scale so that I can image solve in pixinsight; if anybody has advice I'm open to it! Also some processes such as star exterminator had issues managing the picture. It gave some weird square shaped artifacts all over the image. Starnet 2 worked as a charm.

Resulting image after crop is about 238.7MPix. Hope you will enjoy the results as there's quite some effort I invested in this one. Obviously there's always room to improve.
