Description

In addition to the Mare Imbrium in the center of that image, the crater Pythagoras on the far left near the horizon with its mighty central mountains and Plato at the top center above the Mare Imbrium are also impressive.

Mare Imbrium may have been formed when a proto-planet from the asteroid belt collided with the moon 3.8 billion years ago.The diameter of the impactor should have been approx. 250 +/- 25 kilometers. This must be imagined... Unbelievable.

The large impact basin was later flooded with lava. The diameter is approximately 1145 kilometers. On the left, the basin is bordered by Sinus Iridum Bay, which is surrounded by the Montes Jura.

On the left side of that image, near the horizon, the crater Pythagoras is surely noticeable. Pythagoras is already a powerful and impressive guy. The dimensions become particularly clear from this perspective. With a diameter of 145 km, it is 5250 m deep. Madness! The central mountain range is about 3000 m high.

Plato in the middle above the Mare Imbrium lies in the Montes Alpes and seems somewhat boring. This impact crater covered with lava is at least 101 kilometers large and about 1500 meters deep. Inside the crater are 4 more craters with diameters up to about 2 kilometers. According to Wikipedia, these are often used to determine the quality of larger amateur telescopes. Now that I can see these four in my image, does that mean I have a fantastic telescope? ... hahaha.

For the recording I used a moderate gain of 154 with a fairly short exposure time of 2.2 ms. The frame rate was 66fps, so the picture has become quite ok despite the very changeable seeing.

As always, I look forward to recommendations and harsh criticism.
