Somehow I found two short windows of clear sky over Gold Canyon and managed to get 2.5 hr of data for this image. Incredibly, this was the best seeing I have recorded at this location in my three years here. After hunting for open sky near my target unsuccessfully the last several nights, and then looking at the cloud forecast for the next three weeks, and factoring in the waxing moon...I'm toast for adding more data to this one for a while. So, I decided to work it up quickly just to make sure my processing skills don't regress. Maybe I'll get a window at the end of August where I can get 4-5 more hrs of data. But after the cloudiest monsoon season I have experienced, I'm not getting my hopes up.

On a good note, no pattern noise was detected in the calibrated subs so my camera and flats acquisition conditions seem to be holding. I did need to take new darks after my first data workup with 1-2 ADU residual pattern noise showing through. But a new set of darks totally knocked that out. Slowly, step by step, I'm climbing the experience curve with this camera.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
